English language application forms for the summer 2020 scholarship award are available online for download here as of December 8, 2019. (Spanish application forms will be available within a few days.) This scholarship award will be for a current junior or senior in high school, residing within the boundaries of the Santa Cruz City Schools district, for participation in the summer 2020 exchange to Sestri Levante, Italy. About the Scholarship
The Gralen Eidam Wilson Youth Ambassador Scholarship will provide Santa Cruz County Youth the opportunity to represent Santa Cruz County in one of our Sister Cities abroad (Shingu, Japan; Sestri Levante, Italy; Alushta, Crimea; Jinotepe, Nicaragua; Puerto la Cruz, Venezuela).
Eligibility
Current high school juniors and seniors who reside within the boundaries of the Santa Cruz City Schools district.
Requirements

Applicants must:
- Complete an application form
- Propose and complete a project related to their participation in the exchange.
- Commit to participating in fundraising efforts
- If awarded, recipient must be prepared to make a brief presentation after exchange participation.
- See application form for further requirements, including hosting incoming youth ambassadors, attending planning meetings, etc.
Award
Awards will be determined on an annual basis based on available program funding. This year’s award will be for a student who is a current junior or senior to visit Sestri Levante, Italy, in the summer of 2020. Minimum award amount is $500, up to a maximum of round-trip economy airfare. (Students applying for an amount higher than the basic $500 scholarship will be asked to provide confidential income information on a separate form.)
Process for Determining Award
Application submissions will be reviewed by members of the scholarship committee (including members of the Eidam and/or Wilson families), which will make the final selection. A member of the Sister Cities Committee will also attend interviews and meetings for representation purposes.
Awards will be granted to the applicant with the most thorough and compelling submission, as determined by the review committee.
Scholarship will be supported through fundraising efforts. Applicants will also be expected to participate in fundraising.
