Application forms for the 2017-2018 scholarship award are available online for download here as of September 25, 2017. The first scholarship award will be for a junior or senior in high school for participation in the 2018 exchange to Shingu, Japan. Please click and download each of the links below.
Gralen Wilson Scholarship 2017 Fact Sheet Spanish Final
The Gralen Eidam Wilson Youth Ambassador Scholarship will provide Santa Cruz County Youth the opportunity to represent Santa Cruz County in one of our Sister Cities abroad (Shingu, Japan; Sestri Levante, Italy; Alushta, Crimea; Jinotepe, Nicaragua; Puerto la Cruz, Venezuela).
High school juniors and seniors who are residents of Santa Cruz County.
- Complete an application form
- Propose and complete a project related to their participation in the exchange.
- Commit to participating in fundraising efforts
- If awarded, recipient must be prepared to make a brief presentation after exchange participation.
Awards will be determined on an annual basis based on available program funding. The first award amount was announced in fall of 2017, and our first two scholarship recipients visited Shingu, Japan in the summer of 2018.
Process for Determining Award
Application submissions will be reviewed by members of the Santa Cruz Sister Cities Support Group, the Eidam and/or Wilson families, and the fundraising committee chair.
Awards will be granted to the applicant with the most thorough and compelling submission, as determined by the review committee.
Scholarship will be supported through fundraising efforts. Applicants will also be expected to participate in fundraising.
Application forms will be available through this website and will be delivered to local high schools.
